Cleaner, Greener, Safer: Sauk Village Mayor Marva Campbell-Pruitt Partners with Cook County Sheriff’s Office for Quarterly Recycling Events

October 06, 20252 min read

Sauk Village is taking a proactive step toward a more sustainable and secure community! In a special interview with Taylormag, Mayor Marva Campbell-Pruitt  shared exciting details about a new initiative: a quarterly recycling and document shredding program launched in partnership with the Cook County Sheriff's Office.

This program is a fantastic opportunity for residents to safely and responsibly dispose of items that can be tricky to recycle or sensitive to simply toss in the trash.

Bridging Community Needs with County Services

Mayor Marva Campbell-Pruitt explained that the partnership with the Cook County Sheriff's Office is key to the program's success. The Sheriff's Office often runs programs that assist municipalities with secure disposal and community outreach, which perfectly complements the Village's goal to offer comprehensive recycling services.

"We recognize that people accumulate a lot of 'junk' over time, whether it's old electronics, household items, or sensitive paperwork," Mayor Marva Campbell-Pruitt noted. "By partnering with the Cook County Sheriff's Office, we're bringing in the resources to handle these items properly, ensuring everything is recycled or disposed of securely."

What Residents Can Drop Off

The quarterly events are designed to be a one-stop-shop for responsible cleanup. According to Mayor Marva Campbell-Pruitt, the events will accept a variety of materials, including:

  • Junk and Miscellaneous Items:This covers many hard-to-dispose-of household goods, allowing residents to declutter responsibly.

  • Confidential Documents:A critical component of the program is the secure document shredding service. Residents can bring old tax returns, bank statements, or other sensitive papers to be destroyed on-site, offering peace of mind against identity theft.

  • Other Recyclables:The events will also serve as a convenient way to drop off other materials that may not be part of the regular weekly collection.

Mark Your Calendar: Next Event in February!

The Mayor is committed to making this a consistent and reliable service for Sauk Village. The events will be held quarterly, with the next one scheduled for February.

While the specific date and location will be announced soon, residents are encouraged to start setting aside their materials now. This recurring schedule ensures that residents don't have to wait long to responsibly clear out their homes and offices.

This initiative is a powerful example of local leadership prioritizing environmental responsibility and community security through effective partnerships. Stay tuned to the Village of Sauk Village and Taylormag social media channels for the official February event announcement!
